MIND freaking BOGGLING
How House Bill Runs Over Grandma
The U.K.'s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) basically figures out who deserves treatment by using a cost-utility analysis based on the "quality adjusted life year."This from a site that calls itself the "Investor's Business Daily" This potentially has the ability to influence the decision-making on business people in the US.
One year in perfect health gets you one point. Deductions are taken for blindness, for being in a wheelchair and so on.
The more points you have, the more your life is considered worth saving, and the likelier you are to get care.
People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.
If you want to know how many US business people read and are influenced by this level of ignorance and stupidity, check out anyone who bought into any of the unicorns peddled as derivative contracts in the last 5 years.
Now, if we could harness said I&S as an energy source we would be saved, unfortunately, because I&S is a force that attempts to get something very large for no cost or effort, it is actually an entropy accelerator and any attempt to touch it results in your own resources being sucked into a black hole.
You may want to avoid following the link, I already feel 8.3% dumber just reading that stuff.
Scary. Very scary.
