Its not a summer, but it is one of the early swallows that shows at least one corporate media business is finally getting the net. Inside the Mind of the World's Most Powerful Liberal Blogger.
June 24. 2006 — For "Nightline," ABC News' Jake Tapper interviewed Markos Moulitsas, founder of the powerful blog Daily Kos. The following is a transcript.
JAKE TAPPER: What inspired you to sit down on that day, in 2002, and start blogging?
What matters about this is not the headline or the source, what matters is that it is the transcript of the whole interview, not just the bit they broadcast.
ABC is getting it, next they need to post the video of the whole thing and to provide tools for others to re-edit the content into different clips and post them on their own sites, all with the "ABC Raw Content" Logo watermarked in every frame of course.
Not only will they get better distribution, but by providing easy tools for others to edit their stuff, they can see what other people find interesting and track how it is being used. Maybe they could enable trackbacks to the raw content page and [gasp] even pay bloggers a small editorial fee for any re-edits they use on ABC.
OK, back to the meds; while I calm down. On the other hand, maybe its is time for just that stage of the conversation. Dave Weinberger's latest email newsletter talks about exactly this in The end of the story (Or: The tyranny of rectangles)
