This from the Bangkok paper on the plane today. Internet Thailand, working
with NZ company Infrontier, whose core technology does the document format
translation, the Electronic Commerce Network will shortly enable documents
in any format to be automatically translated into all other formats via a
web service.
Clients will be able to send once and have the service distribute to their
list in the format preferred by the list member. And end perhaps to the
blasted ubiquitous PDF and .doc (guilty) attachment problem. If I want
everything in rtf, I get it because I say so. That's the net model. Glad to
see that the people getting closest to a solution are Kiwis.
