There's more coming out from the weeds around the US polling business, and increasingly it makes for bad reading amongst the professionals. The cellphone is increasingly cramping the pollsters ability to get to anyone to talk to, according to the US Consumer Electronics Association, "Number portability, advanced text messaging and voicemail features, and most importantly, falling prices for service plans are all allowing more and more consumers to cut the cord to their traditional landline services,"
Much worse for the polsters is the news that there is a vicious skew in the demographics of people likely to use those tools to control their communications. Democratic party and Independent voters appear to be much more likely to use those tools while Conservative voters are more, well, conservative.
Update: Looks like the infamous Exit Poll has also been thoroughly discredited as well after Tuesday's US Elections. Can't say I'm sorry about that, they have been a pernicious interference in the democratic process and frankly provided nothing more than fodder for the mindless rabitting of TV Heads.
